Celebrating a Legacy of GRFU Commitment
We’re extremely proud and thrilled to share the highlights from the recent Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union (GRFU) Long Service Awards, held right here at Lockleaze Sports Centre. It was an unforgettable day that celebrated decades of dedication to rugby, crowned by a special visit from HRH The Princess Royal.
The Long Service Awards recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals who have devoted much of their lives to supporting rugby at various levels. From coaching and mentoring to administrative work and grassroots development, these recipients have played pivotal roles in shaping the local rugby community. Their hard work have left a lasting impact, not just on the game itself but on the countless young players who have benefitted from their guidance and encouragement.
A Royal Presence
The ceremony was made even more special by the presence of HRH The Princess Royal, who joined us in celebrating the remarkable achievements of the award recipients. As an avid supporter of sports and the Patron of GRFU [and also Scottish Rugby Union] Princess Royal’s attendance brought a sense of prestige and honour to the occasion, underscoring the value of volunteerism and dedication within the rugby community.
