Bristol Combination Rugby Season Ends with a Bang!
Last Saturday marked the thrilling conclusion of the Bristol Combination rugby season, and what a day it was! Held at Lockleaze Sports Centre, the event was packed with unforgettable moments and showcased the best of local rugby talent.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the inaugural Women’s Cup Final, where Winscombe RFC emerged victorious over Chew Valley Cats RFC in a display of impressive skill and determination. Avonmouth Claires Ladies also celebrated a win, taking home the Plate after their opponents were unable to field a team.
The excitement didn’t stop there. The Butcombe Brewing Co. Bristol Combination Bowl final went into extra time,ultimately being decided by the first-ever “Golden Point.” Southmead RFC snatched the win from the spirited Bristol Harlequins RFC in a truly heart-stopping finish.
Frampton Cotterell RFC added to the drama, clinching the Butcombe Brewing Co. Men’s Vase in another nail-biting match, edging out Old Colstonians RFC with a final score of 21-18.
The day was a testament to the passion and dedication of everyone involved in Combination rugby. A massive thank you goes out to all the organizers, volunteers, and fans who made this a truly memorable event. We can’t wait to see what the 24/25 season brings!
